Communicate 3.2.1- The Newsletter

It is extremely important to maintain constant communication between all stakeholders.  The students’ success depends on open and clear communication in order to be aware of the extra help that the instructor offers as well as reminders to submit work in a timely manner.  Parents should be included in the email communications along with the facilitators. It is essential to create a collaborative online community for all stakeholders in virtual instruction programs. I use smore to create newsletters, and other  communication tools which I enjoy using are goanimate, makebeliefscomixthinglink and flipsnack. Here are my artifacts:

smore-This is an excellent resource for creating newsletters.  It is extremely easy to upload links to videos, photos and websites. I find this program very user friendly as I am able to quickly post important information for students and parents.

goanimate- Sending animated videos is a great way to catch the students' attention for announcements and important information.  This website is very user friendly and I really like the different voices from which to choose.  The backgrounds are interesting and the ability to animate the characters is a plus.

makebeliefscomix-This is another creative way to relay information to the students.  These comic strips can be uploaded to the newsletter very easily.  I love the characters and the ability to add different objects.  This a another fun way to catch students' attention.

flipsnack  - After converting word documents to PDF, I am able create a flipbook of students’ work.  I created 3 flipsnacks as it is extremely easy to use.  I will use this to showcase student work and I will be mindful of FERPA when publishing student information.

thinglink-With this program, I was able to add captions on top of imported images.  I thought it would be interesting to add my contact information as well as other links to my personal photo. I also added links and information to an image of  Acceptable Use Policy.  Students can simply scroll over the icons and the information and links appear.  In my opinion, this is another user friendly program and it is an additional option that I use for sharing information.
