MLII.IP1F Ask questions and provide responses based on topics such as self, others, and the immediate environment.

MLII.IP1G Ask questions and provide responses about plans and events.

MLII.IP2A Initiate, participate in, and close an oral or written exchange.

The doctor has just come into the examining room where you have been waiting. The doctor asks you about your reason(s) for coming to the office today. He or she will ask you about your symptoms, how long you have had the symptoms, and anything you have done to help alleviate your symptoms. Answer the doctor’s questions and listen to his or her advice. If you are unsure of what the doctor instructs you to do, question him or her about it. Create a dialogue in French with a partner which should look similar to this:

Doctor: Comment allez-vous aujourd’hui?

Patient: Je ne me sens pas bien, J’ai.... (list the symptoms that you have using the vocabulary in chapter 2)

Continue until you have at least 5 questions asked from the doctor and 3 questions asked by the patient.

Please refer to the rubric for the number of questions, answers, pronunciation and grammar requirements for this assessment.  You will be performing this for the class, so please use your best pronunciation and grammar.  You will be able to practice this in class on Thursday, May 10.  I will provide feedback on all criteria required for your presentation and answer any questions you have regarding your script.

Offer regular descriptive feedback.

  • I will use the strategy, “ That’s good….now this”  to offer positive feedback.
  • Direct attention to the intended learning, pointing out strengths and offering specific information to guide improvement.
  • I will work with students while writing their conversations. I will highlight errors then students will peer edit.
  • When written conversations are completed/corrected, students will practice “saying” their conversations for me.
  • I will provide feedback on their pronunciation and intonation.  I will tell them what they need to do if they make errors.
  • I will read their conversation and record it to model correct pronunciation in order for them to listen and practice at home
  •
  • After the presentations, I will conference with the students individually on their progress and have them self reflect.  Using the rubric that I provided, I will determine the grade and I will conference individually with the students on their performance.
  •  I would ask them what they think they did well and what they could do to improve.
  • I will go through their rubric and thoroughly explain the results
  • I will model correct conversational skills
  • Allow students who need more practice an opportunity to redo the conversation to show improvement.
  • Feedback will be given to students on the written dialogues
  • Students will edit their dialogues with their peers
  • Give students guidance and feedback as they edit their dialogues
  • Individually, using the rubric, detailed feedback will be given to each student /student self-assessment
  • Class will complete online enrichment activities while conferences are going on.
